Ningbo, abbreviated as "Yong", is located in the middle of China's mainland coastline, adjacent to Shanghai and Hangzhou, with a total area of 9,714 square kilometers. Ningbo is an important port city on the southeast coast of China, the economic center of the southern wing of the Yangtze River Delta, a national historical and cultural city, a national civilized city, one of the 14 coastal cities in mainland China that were opened to the outside world in the first batch, China's excellent tourist city, the first national e-commerce demonstration city, the brand capital of China, the first national cross-border e-commerce pilot city, and cross-border e-commerce comprehensive pilot zone.

Ningbo is one of the country's famous cities for foreign trade, and for every $100 of general trade goods exported from China, at least five of them are produced by Yong enterprises. There are 21,413 enterprises with solid import and export records throughout the year. In 2019, the city completed a total of 917.03 billion yuan of self-supporting import and export in foreign trade, a year-on-year increase of 6.9%, of which 596.96 billion yuan was exported, an increase of 7.6%. Ningbo's foreign trade exports accounted for 3.46% of the country's total, an increase of 0.08 percentage points over the previous year. Ningbo ranked 5th in the country in terms of foreign trade exports.
